A female paramedic standing in front of open ambulance doors, smiling.

EMS changes fast and it changes often.

It’s hard to keep up with all the new research coming out. Departments are slow to roll it out. I don’t have 20 hours a week to read new studies about the latest and greatest advances.

It’s hard enough just to keep the old information fresh.

The good news is, you don’t actually need to spend that long to keep up. I went through all the EMS podcasts and found the 10 best ones for you to listen to in 2025.

Some of these are geared more towards paramedics, but they’re still great for all providers.

  • Inside EMS
  • Alert Medic 1
  • Pocket Sized Pathophys
  • The EMS Lighthouse
  • The Pragmatic Paramedics
  • MCHD Paramedic Podcast
  • EMS Cast
  • The Shift Extension Podcast
  • The Student Paramedic Podcast
  • The Paramedic Coach

Lets jump in to each one.

Inside EMS

Inside EMS is a podcast run by EMS1.

They are an awesome online resource for reading up to date news articles about the goings on in the EMS world.

But the podcast and website have way different vibes.

The podcast feels a lot more personal. It’s great to hear the conversations they have with some of their expert guests.

It’s also got a pretty progressive view of EMS.

They have a huge mental health focus for EMS providers. Something that is deeply important in our field. It talks about servant leadership, EMS mindset, and a lot of other topics related to the well being of EMT’s and Paramedics.

Inside EMS is perfect for anyone from an EMR-Paramedic.

Alert Medic 1

Alert Medic 1 is strictly focused on the medical aspect of EMS.

They review textbook information. Go over medications and disease processes. All backed by research and data.

I love the fact that it’s so research focused.

I don’t have the time to read all those studies on my own. It’s a quick and easy way to stay on top of all that new information.

This is going to be most useful for paramedics, but really on-point EMTs will get something out of it as well.

Pocket Sized Pathophys

This one is amazing for medics on the go.

I have a super long drive to work so I don’t mind longer podcasts. But if you aren’t blessed with the gift of traffic, these shorter, bite-sized refreshers are perfect.

They break everything down into easily digested frameworks.

It’s super detailed but honestly, really easy to remember. It’s run by the same guy that runs Paramedictutor.com. He’s awesome at keeping your old pathophysiology knowledge fresh.

Oh, and he’s got a dope accent.

The EMS Lighthouse

Okay, the host kind of sounds like Theo Von if he was a paramedic.

That might sound like a dig, but it’s not. It’s a fun podcast and the host has an great sense of humor. Even educational podcasts need to crack a joke every now and then.

Their goal is to make the newest medical information accessible to providers.

It’s run by a doctor. They are fully backed by the latest data and research and tell you how to incorporate that new data into your work.

All around a great podcast for anyone in EMS.

The Pragmatic Paramedics

This is a great podcast to find something controversial for the station. Everyone’s favorite past time.

In reality, this is less focused on treatments and patient care. The hosts focus on current events and trends in EMS. It feels conversational and the hosts have a good time with their conversations.

It feels really familiar. The whole time I’m listening I feel like I’m at the station talking over coffee.

And being posted once a month, you’ll never feel overwhelmed trying to keep up with new episodes every week. I’m looking at you Joe Rogan.

MCHD Paramedic Podcast

This is probably the best doctor lead podcast on the list.

He brings in paramedics from the area and interviews them. They talk about experiences, scenarios, and station life. It’s super conversational and makes it really easy to get sucked in. You don’t feel like some doctor is just telling you medical research data for 40 minutes.

While the name would suggest this is specifically for Montgomery Fire, you’d be wrong.

Everything they talk applies to medics everywhere. Turns out all our jobs are pretty similar no matter where in the US you are.

Can’t really speak for Australia or the UK. I hear they have it great out there…

EMS Cast

The EMS Cast has a lot of useful information for providers.

Each podcast they choose a specific topic to talk about and do a deep dive on it. For example you might have one week on hypovolemic shock and the next is a college level dissertation on beta blockers.

And for you video enjoyers, they have a super high quality video version up on youtube.

They also invite doctors onto the cast to talk about their deep dive topics. The doctors go into more detail on why paramedic protocols are the way they are. It’s a refreshing view to see what happens with our patients once we drop them at the emergency department.

The Shift Extension Podcast

Shift Extension focuses less on keeping up with medical information and more about the lifestyle of working in EMS.

As you may have guessed, that makes the podcast a lot more fun. There’s no dry refreshers on medical information that you forgot or didn’t want to know.

It’s just a great group of Australian paramedics chatting and answering questions from the EMS community.

The Student Paramedic Podcast

What is with all these great accents?

Australian EMS must be a fun place to work. These medics seem dope af. Their whole cast just seems like a blast to hang out with and honestly, I’d be on their crew any day.

While it’s called “Student Paramedic” its for anyone looking to become a better paramedic.

The most recent podcast was about making better decisions on difficult scenes. One of the hardest things about being a good paramedic is making quick decisions with little to no information.

Even if you don’t end up giving them a follow, check out this episode.

The Paramedic Coach

You’ve probably seen this guy all over Instagram.

He’s super popular and one of the easiest to find paramedic “influencers” around. If you type Paramedic Coach into a search bar anywhere, I’d bet good money he will pop up.

His podcasts are a little sporadic.

Some days you get three posts in a row. Other times you have two weeks between episodes.

However, the episodes are short, specific, and easy to digest. He never throws so much at you at one time that you leave feeling overwhelmed.

And again for you video lovers he has an even bigger library on Youtube so check him out there if you can’t stand listening to podcasts. But if that’s you I don’t know why you made it all the way here.

Honestly, That’s Too Many Podcasts.

if you’re like me you have a million newsletters you’ve subscribed to and podcasts you want to listen to. I also don’t have 16 hours a day to keep up with everything (Joe Rogan Experience I’m looking at you.)

Here’s my advice.

Take this list (or at least what seems interesting) and listen to a few episodes from each. At the very least a few snippets of each.

Then after a few days pick the 2 or 3you want to keep up with. The ones that are useful or interesting enough for you to want to keep listening to .

if you aren’t enjoying it or learning, you’re wasting time. You aren’t obligated to keep up with everything.
