Paramedic students learning to follow treatment algorithms to help patient outcomes

Not all lessons are created equal.

Some lessons we learn are small. They are little reminders along the way of what truly matters.

Other lessons are giant. They fundamentally change the course of our entire lives.

Over the past 6 years teaching paramedic classes, this is the single most important lesson I’ve learned about great patient care…

Become A Cookbook Medic

And here’s why

Gordon Ramsey didn’t start his career by mixing random ingredients into masterpieces.

No, he started by learning some basic skills and following recipes. You know, like the recipes you might find in a cookbook? Once he become proficient at those recipes he was able to deviate (masterfully) from the basic process.

That’s how you should learn.

Medics need to learn to reliably identify and treat medical emergencies. They need a tried and true recipe to follow. There’s no need to reinvent the wheel on every medical call.
