As an administrator you probably want to try and save some money. Yes we’re here for the students but we gotta have some profit too.

We can’t cut corners on eduction.

Sander’s doesn’t just meet the national standards for paramedic classes.

It far exceeds those requirements. This means your students will be ready to tackle the national registry exam at the end of the course.

It comes all the necessary ECG and Cardiac requirements for NREMT.

And they are in alignment with American Heart Association best practices.

The first way is by bulk ordering textbooks.

This works best if students are required to buy their own books and bring them to class. The hardest part is getting your students to all work together.

Or your program can just buy the books and give them to the students.

But you want to buy all the books at once.

Many distributors will give discounts on orders over a certain amount.

For example, you can get 20% off if you’re ordering 30 or more books. With each book being around $500, that’s a big savings.

Around $3,000 of savings to be exact.

TextBook Resale

The second option is to become your own book seller.

You have to buy the books for yourself first. Buy them in a big enough order and you can get that bulk discount too.

But once you have all those book -at a discounted rate- you can sell them full price.

Your program gets a good chunk of cash incoming from each class.

This is kind of what Costco does. You get such good prices because they can buy in bulk from their distributors. It’s a good system.

This option is great all around.

They can get their books immediately form you. The college gets an influx of revenue from sales. And every student has their book day one.

Risks

However, there are risks to this plan.

Your program will be dropping some serious cash to build up that textbook supply.

Paramedic classes aren’t necessarily known for their high amounts of liquid cash. And if you try to do this with financing, interest can eat any profits you might make.

Also you have to figure out some logistics.

Where are you going to store all those text books? They aren’t small. And most programs don’t want a shed dedicated to holding old textbooks.

And new books are being dropped all the time.

If you’re sitting on 50 2nd edition books and the 3rd edition comes out, you’re behind the times.

You don’t want to be known as the class that uses old materials.

While this option is great if you have the funds, don’t try it if you can’t risk the cash.
