Firefighters leaving their bunker gear on hooks to let them air out

We all need a hobby.

Specifically for those few, sweet moments when we have some down time at the station. Mine is usually doing something super nerdy, writing, or reading. Ok, I guess that’s all pretty nerdy.

Anyway, here are 3 topics I am actively thinking about a lot these days:

Here is a picture of a typewriter that says "Artificial Intelligence"

Topic #1: Artificial Intelligence

I am interested in AI because it’s going to be everywhere in a few years.

Every company will use it. Employees will use it. Our departments are going to start using it. And if we don’t start learning it now, we’re going to fall behind.

And my hope is that over the next few years, as I continue to learn more and more, I’ll be able to use it with my job, rather than fight against it.

Here is a mug on a wooden table. The mug is black and says "Hustle" on it.

Topic #2: Side Hustles in EMS

I first got interested in business a few years ago.

Tai Lopez introduced me to it—for better or for worse. Since then, I have learned a lot about the importance of habit building, time management, and focus.

I never built the next Tesla, but the skills I picked up have spilled over into my career as a firefighter paramedic.

Personal finance is important for paramedics and firefighters. Here is a phone with Tesla stock on it next to a macbook

Topic #3: Personal Finance As A Paramedic

I also have an interest in learning more about personal finance.

I’m no Dave Ramsey, but I was able to get myself out of debt and save 2 months of expenses in under a year. I did it all without selling my furniture, getting a second job, or hitting the jackpot in the lottery.

It’s a fun little rabbit hole I found myself exploring simply because I enjoy it and it ended up helping me a lot.

It would be great to connect with other people who are interested in these same topics—so if any of the above resonates with you, check out more of my articles here.
